CODE OF CONDUCT

Foxy Ladies Running Club is built on friendship, encouragement, respect and support for one another.

The club is run and managed by Julia Griggs, with the support of our Run Leaders and Group Helpers. We ask every Foxy to play her part in creating the friendly, welcoming and supportive environment that makes our club special.

Foxy Ladies was formed for fun, fitness, friendship and social connection — and that’s what we want everyone to experience when they run with us.

Most of our Code of Conduct is simply common sense. As a Foxy, we ask you to:

  • Behave responsibly and show consideration and respect for others at all times.
  • Arrive on time and come prepared for sessions with suitable clothing, footwear and any equipment you may need.
  • Ensure your monthly membership fees are paid by standing order.
  • Respect and support our Run Leaders and Group Helpers and follow their instructions during sessions.
  • Show appreciation to leaders, group helpers, race marshals, volunteers and organisers who make our running and events possible.
  • Treat fellow runners, coaches, officials, race organisers and members of the wider running community with respect.
  • Never engage in bullying, harassment, discrimination, threatening behaviour, violence or physical or sexual abuse. Such behaviour will not be tolerated.
  • Breaches of the Code of Conduct may result in action being taken by the club. Depending on the circumstances and seriousness of the behaviour, this may include a warning, suspension or termination of membership.
  • Avoid abusive, offensive or inappropriate language or behaviour.
  • Respect our meeting places and leave them as you find them.
  • Do not bring or consume alcohol or illegal substances during club sessions.
  • Do not carry anything that could present a danger to yourself or others.
  • Use social media responsibly. Posts or comments connected with Foxy Ladies should not be abusive, offensive or derogatory. Please remember that even when posting in a personal capacity, inappropriate content can reflect negatively on the club.
  • Most importantly — support your fellow Foxies and help us maintain the friendly and inclusive club we’re proud of.

AT TRAINING SESSIONS & ORGANISED RUNS

  • Tell your Run Leader about any injury or relevant issue before the session begins. If you become injured or need to leave during a session, always tell the leader before leaving.
  • No Foxy gets left behind. Everyone shares responsibility for looking out for the group, and faster runners should loop back when requested by the Run Leader.
  • Wear suitable running clothing and trainers for the session and weather conditions. Bring appropriate waterproof, warm or reflective clothing when required.
  • Encourage, congratulate and support your fellow Foxies.
  • When taking part in races or events, follow the rules set by the organisers, including rules relating to entries, transfers and deferrals.
  • If anything makes you feel concerned or uncomfortable, or you believe another member has experienced inappropriate behaviour or misconduct, please speak to the Club Welfare Officer, Julia Griggs. Any concerns raised will be handled sensitively and appropriately.
  • Have fun and enjoy your running!

HEALTH & SAFETY

The safety of our Foxies is important to us. We ask all members to take responsibility for their own safety and to look out for one another during club sessions.

  1. When running in the dark or in poor visibility, wear suitable high-visibility or reflective clothing and/or lights so that you can be clearly seen.
  2. Follow the Highway Code and take appropriate care when running on or crossing roads.
  3. For safety and communication, headphones should not be worn during organised club sessions.
  4. No Foxy gets left behind. All members should help ensure the group stays together and follow the Run Leader’s instructions, including looping back when asked.
  5. Race entries must only be used by the person they are registered to. Do not run using another person’s race place or allow someone else to use yours, unless an official transfer has been completed in accordance with the event organiser’s rules.
  6. All accidents or incidents during a club session must be reported to the Run Leader so they can be recorded and followed up where necessary.

CLUB ETIQUETTE

A few simple housekeeping guidelines help keep our sessions running smoothly and maintain the friendly Foxy spirit we all know and love.

  • Park considerately when attending sessions, particularly when meeting in residential areas. Please be mindful of our neighbours and avoid blocking driveways or access.
  • Arrive on time for your session. If you can no longer attend, please let your Run Leader or Group Helper know where appropriate.
  • Please use the toilet at home before coming to a session where possible, particularly when we’re meeting at a leader’s home.
  • Take your belongings home with you. Check for water bottles, jackets, gloves, headbands and anything else before you leave.
  • When meeting at a leader’s or host’s home, please respect their property and wait outside unless invited in.
  • Book onto your sessions through RunTogether so that we have an accurate register of who’s attending.
  • If you’re planning an informal run and would like some Foxy company, feel free to post in the Foxy group — there’s usually someone happy to join you!
  • When transferring, deferring or changing a race entry, always follow the official race organiser’s rules. Never give or sell a race place to another runner unless the organiser permits an official transfer.
  • Support other Foxies. A comment, bit of encouragement or even an emoji on someone’s running post can mean a lot. 🧡
  • We’re competitive with ourselves, not each other. Celebrate everyone’s achievements, whatever the pace or distance.
  • Please remember that our Run Leaders and Group Helpers have work, families and lives outside Foxy. If a question isn’t urgent, ask it at your next session or post in the Foxy group where appropriate.
  • Keep posts in the main Foxy Facebook group relevant to running, fitness and the club. Please check with Julia before posting unrelated content.
  • Dogs may sometimes be welcome on informal off-road runs, but always check with the run organiser first. Dogs should not attend organised training sessions.
  • Partners, husbands or sons may occasionally join an informal Foxy run, but please check with the organiser/group first. Organised Foxy training sessions remain for club members.

MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT

Our Mental Health Champions are available if you need someone to talk to or simply someone to listen confidentially.

You can speak to your Run Leader, who can put you in touch with a Mental Health Champion, or contact Heidi or Julia directly. Where appropriate, we may also refer you to Lin Hughes, Mental Health Ambassador, for further advice and guidance.

Most importantly, keep looking out for one another and help us maintain the friendly, supportive and light-hearted Foxy community we’re proud of.

FAQs

Q1: What should I do if I can’t make a session?
If possible, let your Run Leader or Group Helper know so that the group isn’t waiting for you, and remember to cancel your RunTogether booking.

Q2: Can I go to a different session if I can’t make my usual one?
Of course! We’d much rather you join another session than miss out. Book onto the alternative session through RunTogether and let the relevant leader know if necessary.

Q3: What should I do if I have an injury?
If you have a new or recurring injury, don’t try to run through it. Rest as appropriate and seek advice from a suitably qualified healthcare professional where necessary. If an injury occurs during a Foxy session, tell your Run Leader straight away.

Q4: How do I order Foxy running kit?
You’ll find details and ordering information in the Foxy Kit section on this page.

Q5: How do I find out about local races?
We regularly share races and events within the Foxy community. You’ll also find plenty of local events through race organisers and running-event websites.
We’ll add the appropriate current links here.

Q6: What’s the best running or route-planning app?
There’s no single best app — it really comes down to personal preference. Lots of Foxies use apps such as Strava and other running or route-planning apps, so ask around if you’d like recommendations.

Q7: Are Foxy Ladies an affiliated running club?
No. Foxy Ladies Running Club is not an affiliated running club. If a race entry gives you the option to enter your running club, you’re welcome to enter Foxy Ladies Running Club where appropriate.

Q8: Are the Foxy Run Leaders qualified and insured?
Yes. All Foxy Run Leaders hold current England Athletics Run Leader qualifications/licences and appropriate insurance.

Q9: Are the Run Leaders DBS checked and First Aid trained?
Yes. Our Run Leaders have current DBS checks and have completed appropriate First Aid training. Our most recent First Aid training was completed in summer 2026 and is valid for three years.

FOXY KIT

Want to wear your Foxy colours? 🧡🖤

Our Foxy Ladies branded kit is available to order through Broadwater Sports Embroidery.

If you’re unsure about sizing, please ask Julia before ordering, as sizing can vary between different manufacturers.

Most orders take approximately three weeks. If you need something sooner for a race or event, add a note to your order and they will do their best to help.

If there’s something you’d love to see added to the Foxy range — whether that’s a new item of clothing or an accessory — let Julia know and we’ll look into the possibilities.
